Gonstead Technique Analysis
The Gonstead system is the most complete method of biomechanical analysis available today for chiropractic care. This thorough method of analysis is preferred and used by uniquely qualified Gonstead method chiropractic providers. Dr. David J Calabro is a renowned Linwood Gonstead chiropractor. Patients who have done their research and are knowledgeable about the benefits of choosing a Gonstead chiropractor for their care understand the many benefits of a proper analysis for the best outcomes.
Advanced & Scientific Method
A thorough analysis of the spine uses five criteria to detect the presence of the vertebral subluxation complex:
Visualization — Visualization is a way to cross reference other findings. The Gonstead chiropractic method looks for subtle changes in posture and movement which could indicate any problems.
Instrumentation — The nervoscope is an instrument used to detect uneven distributions of heat along the spine which can indicate inflammation and nerve pressure. The nervoscope is guided down the length of the back and feels like two fingers gliding down each side of the spine.
Static Palpation — This refers to feeling the spine while a patient is in a stationary position for the presence of swelling, tenderness, and any abnormal texture or tightness that may present in the muscles and tissues of the back.
Motion Palpation — This refers to feeling the spine while a patient is moving and bending it at various angles to determine how easily or difficult each segment in the spine moves in different directions.
X-Ray Analysis — X-rays show the entire integrity of the spine and used to evaluate posture, joint and disc integrity, vertebral misalignments and ruling out any pathologies or fractures. Full spine radiographs are taken in the standing, weight-bearing position to fully substantiate examination findings.
Chiropractic Adjustment
The body’s foundation is formed by the pelvic girdle which is made up the hip bones and the lower bones of the back. When this structure is level, there will be maximum balance and stability in the spinal column. When the pelvic girdle or any of the vertebrae of the spinal column become tilted or rotated out of their proper position, dramatic changes and pain can occur in the body.
Chiropractic adjustments can safely and effectively eradicate pain occurring in the back, neck and shoulder regions. The adjustment gently realigns the spine to its proper place to remove nerve interference. Nerve interference or vertebral subluxation can be a result from an accident or injury or an activity. By skillfully adjusting the spine’s vertebrae to their original natural position, you are able to function at your highest level and perform at your peak.
